Majors

The Randolph Little League Majors division is the culmination of the typical little league baseball experience before players graduate to “Seniors” and the “big” baseball field. The Majors division is more competitive and advanced than the younger leagues. Children ages 11-12 (grades 5-7) are typically placed in the Majors division. 10-year-olds who are younger 5th graders or advanced players in 4th grade may also play in the Majors if they rate high enough during the ratings session. Team standings are kept and there are playoffs leading to a championship game. The Majors play on 50/70 “intermediate” field. This means that the mound is 50 feet from home plate and the bases are 70 feet apart, as compared to the traditional 46/60 Little League field. “Intermediate” 50/70 baseball also introduces players to leading off the bases, stealing bases, pick-off throws to the bases, and other more advanced skills and strategy to better prepare players for the Seniors division and High School level play.

During the summer, Randolph fields competitive 11U and 12U All-Star teams that are selected by independent evaluators after a mandatory tryout in May. To be eligible for the 11U and 12U All-Star teams, players MUST participate in the Majors recreation season in the Spring. The 12U All-Star team plays in a district tournament and, if they advance, to sectional, state, and regional tournaments on the road the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Randolph 12U All-Star teams won the New Jersey State Championship for the Majors division in 2001 and 2007.
